Iman

Iman first arrived in Bahrain 29 years ago from her hometown Egypt and since then she has taken part in many social activities. She joined the American Women’s association (A.W.A) in 1993 and since that time she has enjoyed being involved in numerous volunteer activities with this great organization.

Iman has enjoyed dancing her whole life.  As a child she took Ballet and so the whole movement of Belly dancing came very naturally to her. She was always inspired by the traditional history of the dance to its most contemporary styling, from folkloric to fusion, from the music in all its forms to the traditional costuming.

Whilst she was a member of the A.W.A, she begun to give her fellow friends personal classes in Belly dancing.

This gradually grew to become very popular and enjoyable. With such high demand, Iman decided to design an actual class format in order to make this great dance style and cultural experience available to a broader range of ladies.

Never one to let her dance stop her, Iman acts as an educator, realizing the value of her Middle Eastern dance knowledge, she subscribes wholly to the belief that her talents mean nothing if she cannot share them with others.

To further Iman’s study of body movement and enhance her skills as a teacher, she attended the first Nia White Belt Intensive conducted in Bahrain in 2006 with Nia Trainer, Ann Christiansen. She now teaches her own Nia classes as well as her Belly dancing classes at the Center.
